Pregnant Woman Slammed to the Ground by NYPD Cop

A disturbing video of a pregnant woman getting tackled by a NYPD officer in Brooklyn last Saturday is swarming the internet. Five months pregnant Sandra Amezquita is recorded being slammed into the ground, belly down with a cop falling on top of her in Sunset Park for attempting to stop an arrest of her 17 year old son. As her husband watches in horror, he allegedly gets into an altercation with police and is arrested for assaulting a police officer. As for the pregnant woman, she is given a summons for disorderly conduct along with several bruises on her arm and belly. She is also experiencing other pregnancy complications. Falling hard on your stomach while five months pregnant is dangerous enough and with the added weight of the officer, it is definitely possible to lose the baby.

Why so much force on a clearly pregnant woman?

Honestly I am not surprised. This continuing evidence of overuse of U.S. police force has the county in an uproar. Especially after the recent incident in Ferguson, Missouri, when riots broke out over a white police officer shooting an unarmed black man in the back. Then the local police department withheld important information about what happened and the officer’s name for days. Ferguson police flooded the streets with military tanks and weapons in an attempt to control the protesters, even though not properly trained to use the equipment. The community is still outraged from the whole ordeal and brought national attention that the government is slowly militarizing the local police by selling them military weapons at a big discount price.

Militarizing America’s Local Police

The local police are just the beginning. In Florida, some high schools are having their campus police officers now carry M-16s! What the F! When I was in high school we never had police, so when their was a typical school yard fight the teachers would punish you with suspension or detention. Nowadays, high schools kids that get into a brawl are arrested and charged with a crime. Why all this need for military weapons? Is it really necessary? Well, I guess it is when crazy people are shooting up movie theaters and grade schools, kids are taking their parent’s guns then shooting the bullies that have been terrorizing them, or all terrorist in the Middle East planning their next big attack on America. The conspiracists say the government is installing fear into Americans to take away our Constitution’s 2nd Amendment, “The Right to Bear Arms” and gives an excuse to militarize local police forces. I guess we will soon find out.
