America Legalizing Pot
After last year’s decision for Colorado’s legalization of recreational marijuana, many states follow it’s lead by casting a vote this year to put medical or recreational marijuana on it’s ballots this November. This extremely controversial topic has everyone’s attention, despite the fact most Americans only vote during the 4 year presidential elections and not the 2 year governor elections. We are listening to the benefits of medical marijuana for all kinds of illnesses, watching Coloradans smoke the herb at Denver Bronco tailgating parties and advertisements telling us our children will turn into stoners. Marijuana has been a taboo subject ever since those “Reefer Madness” days, imprinting our brains with fears of people turning into sex maniacs and other nonsense lies. Truth is Marijuana has been used for thousands of years by many civilizations for numerous reasons. It helps all kinds of sicknesses such as cancer, glaucoma, chronic pain, seizures, epilepsy, anxiety, insomnia, depression and many others. Also Hemp (Contains such a low percent of THC, you cannot get “high” off it) can turn into paper, rope, clothes, fuel for your car and so much more. Hemp provides a key role as a savior to Mother Nature’s future. Did you know the “Constitution of The United States of America” was written on hemp paper? The Constitution states we can ingest anything into our bodies that we desire in the 9th Amendment. Since the early 1900’s, the American government started prohibiting certain things we consume, alcohol and marijuana being a few. Doctors used to prescribe heroin and morphine to alcoholics to keep them sedated and homebound to prevent community brawls and arguments at the pub. Could you believe during the 1950’s, housewives could buy home delivered heroin and needles from the Sears Catalog? As you review American history, you can see that over the course of time opinions and morals change, some because of the best interests of big influential corporations, businesses and governments. With all this propaganda, how do we know the what is best for our country’s future?
Colorado Leading the Way
Colorado Businesses take advantage of this cutting edge opportunity for the legalization of Marijuana such as, “Mountain Man Organics” located outside Fort Collins at the heart of The Rocky Mountain National Forest in Livermore, CO. “Mountain Man Organics” took the concept of CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and expanded into not just great organic herbs, fruits and veggies, but also added organic cannabis plants and edibles. The recent passing of Colorado’s, “Cottage Act”, now gives leeway to businesses for selling breads, cakes, cookies, pastries, ect. Mountain Man Organics will soon be selling organic eggs, goat milk and goat cheese for the passing of the “Cottage Act” as well. Owner, Mountain Man tells me, “So exploratory! This has opened up countless opportunities for my business. It’s not just about marijuana, it’s also about other nationwide legit products associated with it, like t-shirts and so much more! ” Get Mountain Man Organics t-shirts Here! I spent last summer in Fort Collins and experienced somewhat of a utopian society with Colorado setting an example for the rest of the country by sustainably living off the land, not being dependent on the government and protecting their environment. True followers of the Constitution, Colorado is leading the country in the right direction.
Other States Take Notice
Like many states, Florida’s, “Amendment 2”, proposes medical marijuana for deliberating conditions. Florida’s current approval for the low THC cannabis strain, “Charlotte's Web” helps children with epileptic seizures. Tampa Bay’s own Superfly Crew will be hosting their new album release party with all their friends and other local bands in November to create exposure for Florida’s,”Amendment 2” for this year’s election in Tampa, FL.
