Badda Skat

Much respected reggae artist, Badda Skat emerged from the underground scene of internet dancehall in 2000. He began perfecting his technique and consistently chisels his name into the music industry. Tampa native original lyricist, Aaron Smith, is a college educated white boy with natural dreadlocks down past his knees. He transformed into a admired artist with “hard work, a pure heart and a touch of divine intervention!”

-Badda. Globally working with a variety of producers, Badda put together an arsenal of tracks that he soon organized as a way to educate and inform the masses. Focusing on conscious material, word began to spread not only about the skill of the delivery, but also the quality of lyrics and the messages they conveyed.

Up & Coming:

Badda Skat has striven to remain financially and creatively independent in the production of his music. The majority of Badda’s tracks were recorded at DubShot Studios, where it first began in a 10x10 room that also doubled as his living space. DubShot Studios went through though various incarnations, these humble studios would go on to record over one hundred full-length tracks including his debut album, “GRASS ROOTS” and the dub album follow-up, “GRASS DUBS”. Jah Roots provided the musical foundation for “GRASS ROOTS” and “GRASS DUBS”. Badda Skat was also featured on the track, “Empress” from Jah Roots’s album, “Crucial”.

Badda’s message is definitely getting heard. Even radio stations from all over the world have taken notice to Badda’s potential, all while operating beneath the mainstream radar. He has earned airplay on stations such as WSUN in Tampa, FL, KSVY in Sonoma, CA and Unique FM in Nottingham, UK. Badda has performed to a variety of US audiences in recent years, touching states like Florida, Ohio, Missouri, Georgia, Nebraska, and Kansas. Badda has also enjoyed opening for various international acts such as Yellowman, Eek -a-Mouse, Black Uhuru, Morgan Heritage, Julian Marley, Gyptian, Collie Buddz, 311, Less Than Jake, and Matisyahu.
